GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- Grand Rapids police say a man was critically injured in a fall down a four-story staircase at a night club where two men died in similar accidents.

Police say 36-year-old Kevin R. Obrien of nearby Wyoming fell about 1:45 a.m. Sunday at The B.O.B.

WOOD-TV says witnesses tell officers that Obrien entered the open stairwell on the fourth floor and fell to the bottom level.

On April 14, 21-year-old Zachary Bunting of Grand Ledge was trying to slide down a railing when he lost his balance and fell to his death in the same stairwell.

MLive.com says Tyler Usher of Dorr was celebrating his birthday at the club in 2009 when he died after either jumping or falling down a different stairwell at the club.

I've been to this club and have walked up and down these stairs. There is a high railing making it impossible to fall unless you jump/climb over it. Although sad, this is an obvious case of drunken stupidity.

Stairs. Killing drunk people since Year Zero. Can't they close off the stairway at night? Is there no elevator?
