LANSING -- Parts of downtown Lansing, much of Delta Township and the Capital Region International Airport lost power Friday afternoon.
BWL spokesman Steve Serkaian says routine maintenance was being performed at a west side substation when it failed and cause three additional substations to fail.
About 18,000 BWL customers lost power. It was restored at 3:07 p.m.
Businesses in Delta Township were forced to evacuate customers during the outages. Some government buildings in downtown Lansing lost power.
A spokesperson for Capital Regional International Airport says the outage caused little disruption in airport operations.
