MSU Bakers, Michigan State University’s on-campus bakery, is contributing a portion of all February product sales to the American Heart Association.

“One of the many advantages MSU Bakers enjoys on campus is to pair something very personal with something that benefits many for a greater good,” said Cindy Baswell, MSU Bakers’ manager. “We appreciate the thoughtfulness of our customers in support of this very worthy organization and its mission.”

Three February specials will be offered; an eight-inch “Brownie Blaster,” traditional heart-shaped Valentines Cookies and the “DIY” Valentine’s Day Cookies, for the Bakers’ more creative customers who wish to decorate their own cookies. The Brownie Blaster sells for $15 and both cookie options are available for $15 per dozen. Orders can be made online at www.msubakers.com or by phone at 517-353-9310. Customers may also make donations over and above that associated with their purchase.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and is a major cause of disability. The most common heart disease in the United States is coronary heart disease, which often appears as a heart attack. About every 25 seconds, an American will have a coronary event, and about one every minute will die from one.
