EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan State University's Board of Trustees has approved construction of a nearly $61 million Bio Engineering Facility.
The board on Friday authorized the university administration to proceed with the project on the school's East Lansing campus. When completed, the facility will stand four stories tall and contain about 130,000 square feet of laboratory and office space.
About half of the $60.8 million for the project is expected to come from the state.
Also Friday, the board set housing rates for 2013-14.
Room-and-board rates for freshmen, transfer and returning students who live on campus and select the silver unlimited meal plan will see a 3.9 percent increase. Prices for Spartan Village and University Village Apartments' one- and two-bedroom apartments will remain unchanged.
