Plowing the roads during the winter is about to get done a lot faster when MDOT is behind the wheel.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will unveil its new Tow Plow to the media on Friday, January 11. It will be used in Livingston County-- along Interstate 96 and U.S. 23 to start.

The tow plow is a tandem-style machine that can plow widths of up to 25-feet--- that's two full lanes of traffic in just one pass.

It will also be equipped with a salt hopper and a spreader. MDOT says it will help them save on equipment costs and personnel.
