Lansing's police and firefighter unions have saved 31 jobs by agreeing to concessions. The city will eliminate 34 police officers, two police supervisors and 11 firefighters. Fire stations #5 and #7 will also close. The layoffs are part of the city's plan to eliminate an $18 million deficit. The initial plan called for 78 layoffs, instead of the current 47. The city is not giving out details of the concessions agreement.
