LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Longtime Michigan Attorney General Frank Kelley is being honored by the state, which is putting his name on a pedestrian walkway in Lansing.

The walkway connects the Michigan Capitol building with the Hall of Justice and various state departments. It will be known as the Frank J. Kelley Capitol Walkway after a dedication ceremony on Wednesday.

Gov. Rick Snyder and other dignitaries are planning to attend the ribbon cutting.

The 88-year-old Kelley served as attorney general from 1961 to 1998. His 37-year term is the longest by any state attorney general in U.S. history.

The Democrat is nicknamed "eternal general" for his long service.
