A dozen students and chaperones from Japan are having some fun in mid-Michigan, swimming, roller-skating and rock climbing.
The group arrived Friday to spend one week as exchange students at DeWitt Junior High School.
In May, DeWitt students will head to Koka Japan to see what life is like there. Their teacher tells News 10 the exchange program is a great way for students to learn a new language.
"My students are also learning the language right now, so it gives them the opportunity to utilize their skills in the language," Micah Cousins said. "They're gonna remember this experience for the rest of their lives."
The Japanese group will spend the rest of the week staying with host families and visiting Lansing sights.
