The city of Jackson is accepting applications for those interested in serving as First Ward City Councilmember. The seat was left vacant a few weeks ago after Carl Breeding died of a heart attacked related to an illness.

Applicants must be registered voters and have lived in the First Ward for at least one year. Applications can be picked up at the City Clerk's office inside City Hall, located at 161 West Michigan Avenue in downtown Jackson.

Applications will be accepted until 4pm, Thursday December 20. An appointment of the First Ward seat will be at the January 22, 2013 council meeting.

If you have any questions, contact City Clerk Lynn Fessel at 517-788-4025.
