High-end cars are expected to roll through Detroit for a road-rally

DETROIT (AP) -- More than 60 custom and high-end cars are expected to roll on a secret route through Detroit as part of a timed, two-state road rally.

The MotorCity Gumball Rally started Saturday morning at the Motor City Casino, where drivers were given clues to find timed checkpoints. Organizers say speeding is prohibited and hurts drivers' chances of winning the rally.

The route will take them to Indianapolis to end the event's first day. Drivers also will navigate a secret route in Indianapolis beginning Sunday morning to find timed checkpoints.

The rally is expected to end Sunday evening at Grosse Ile Municipal Airport, southwest of Detroit.

Participants are competing for cash and prizes.
