Gas Line Break Leads to Evacuation of State Office Building

A broken natural gas line closed a downtown Lansing intersection and forced the evacuation of a state office building.

At 11:15 a.m. Friday, utility workers struck the line near the intersection of Walnut and Kalamazoo Streets.

The intersection was shut down and about 200 workers in the nearby Cass Building were sent home. The workers were in the Department of Community Health and the Department of Technology, Management and Budget.

Consumers crews repaired the line without further incident and the intersection was reopened without incident is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
