Former Teacher to Stand Trial on Sex Charges

The former teacher charged with having sex with one of his students will face a jury.

Matthew Lusby waived his preliminary hearing Monday morning, sending his case to trial.

Lusby, a former teacher at daVinci Institute in Jackson County, is charged with two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct.

Prosecutors say the 28-year-old had sex with a 15-year-old female student on two different occasions.

He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
