Former Jackson County District Court Judge James Justin surrendered Friday morning to law enforcement authorities. Justin is facing four counts of Misconduct in Office, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and/ore a $10,000 fine.

Arrangements are being made for Justin to return to Jackson District Court for a later arraignment. Ingham County 55th District Court Judge Donald Allen has been appointed the arraigning judge for Justin. An official date and time for the arraignment is still pending, because Judge Allen will have to travel to Jackson for the arraignment.

The 67-year-old is accused of dismissing multiple traffic tickets issued to his wife as well as workers in his court. Between November 2006 and May 2010, three speeding tickets and one ticket for "defective equipment" were allegedly dismissed by Judge Justin, without just cause.

Justin was removed from office on January 27, after a recommendation of the Judicial Tenure Commission.
