Former Congressman Joe Schwarz has rejected a Democratic bid for the 7th Congressional District seat, according to the Michigan Information and Research Service.
Schwarz, known as a moderate Republican, had been courted by the Democrats to challenge current Republican Congressman Tim Walberg
Schwarz was defeated after one term representing the 7th district by Walberg in a Republican primary battle back in 2006.
Schwarz was quoted by the Mlive news service as deciding against running for "a number or reasons", but not because he didn't think he would win.
Schwarz continues to be a physician in Battle Creek.
