Former Lansing Police Chief Charles Reifsnyder died Tuesday at the age of 85.
This black and white photo of him was taken in 1956, while he was a motorcycle officer. He retired as police chief in 1991 after serving the post for three years, following nearly forty years with the department.
Reifsnyder was also grandfather to DeWitt's Olympic gold medalist Jordyn Wieber. He called her a "machine" as she competed ahead of the London games and told us then seeing her perform at such an elite level was unbelievable.
Reifsnyder will be laid to rest Friday morning. Visitation was Thursday at the Estes-Leadley Chapel in Lansing.
