Fatal Fire in Meridian Township

MERIDIAN TWP. - Fire claims a life in Okemos Monday night. Fire officials have not released many details yet. A body was taken from a mobile home that had been engulfed in flames at Winslow's Mobile Park on West Grand River Avenue. The fire broke out at about 9 o'clock Monday night. Fire officials have not confirmed who died, but do say the person is a resident of the home. Neighbors tell News 10 that an elderly couple lived in the home and that the husband is accounted for. News 10 has also learned that there was a large collection of guns and ammunition in the mobile home. Fire officials continue to investigate and have not determined a cause yet. They do say the fire is not suspicious. The name of the victim has not yet been released, while family continues to be notified.

    You are obviously off on the time of the fire. It was the lead story on Fox 47 News at 10 p.m. So it obviously happened before 10 p.m., not around 11 p.m. I heard all the sirens around 9:30 or 9:45.

    So we can assume the guns and ammo caused the fire? Maybe we can conclude from this that only bad things happen to gun owners? Nice police work News 10.
