DELTA TWP - A hit-and-run accident in Delta Township Sunday night has claimed the life of a local man. The accident happened at about 11:30PM Sunday in front of a restaurant on West Saginaw Highway, east of Canal Road. A statement from the Eaton County Sheriff's office says that the 55-year-old man was walking in the area, when he was struck and killed by an eastbound driver, who fled the scene. The car, a 1999 Buick Regal, was located later by Lansing Township Police. Eaton County Sheriff's Office located and interviewed the registered owner of the car.

No arrest has been made at this time. Sheriff's officials have not released the name of the driver yet, while family continues to be notified. The investigation continues.

This happened infront of a Denny's. Alot of people walk from the hotels on the corner of Sag. and Canal and Cross infront of Denny's where this happened. But I wouldnt doubt that since it was like 11pm that the person who hit them {esp. only a block from the Sheriff's Station} was drinking when they hit and left him to die.

I would not be surprised if this person was not crossing in a crosswalk. That seems to be the norm around Lansing.
