Michigan State center Derrick Nix has waived the formal reading of charges related to his arrest on suspicion of operating a vehicle with the presence of drugs and marijuana possession.
The 21-year-old waived the arraignment in an Ingham County district court and must appear at a pre-trial hearing on an undetermined date.
Court records say Nix was arrested about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday and posted bond later that day. He has been suspended indefinitely from the basketball team.
Nix averaged 8.1 points this season as a junior and his improvement was a big reason why Michigan State tied for first in the Big Ten and won the conference tournament. The Spartans lost in the NCAA Sweet 16.
