DeWitt Twp. Officer Remains Critical

DeWITT TWP - A DeWitt Township Police officer is doing better, but remains in critical condition, following a Monday morning accident while driving his patrol car. DeWitt Township Police Chief Brian Russell says, Officer Robert Stump remains in an intensive care unit but is "slightly improving." Russell says Stump has been conscious. His family is by his side.

Stump crashed his patrol car into a utility pole and trees along West Herbison Road near Schavey Road at about 5 o'clock in the morning Monday. He was responding as backup to a call from Clinton County deputies. Stump was wearing his seatbelt and both the patrol car's air bags did deploy. He has several internal injuries.
