A 3-year-old child is taken into protective custody after sheriff's deputies discover a meth lab in the child's home.

Calhoun County Sheriff's deputies executed a search warrant in the 17000 block of 15 Mile Road in Marshall Township around 3:15am Wednesday.

Deputies had to wear protective gear to remove the dangerous meth items from the home. One deputy was treated for minor injuries after it was bitten on the arm by the family's pit bull when he entered the home.

A 48-year-old man, two adult women and a 3-year-old child were in the home at the time. Deputies contacted Child Protective Services, who came and removed the child.

No one was arrested at the time, but police are seeking an arrest warrant for the homeowner for Manufacturing and Delivering Methamphetamine.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, the Albion Department of Public Safety, the Homer Police Department and the Marshall Township Fire Department.
