DETROIT (AP) -- Prosecutors have charged a man and woman with murder in the burning death of a 1-year-old boy. The Detroit couple say they left the infant in a stroller covered by a blanket next to a space heater.
Detroit police says that 22-year-old Sandford McQueen and 23-year-old Karen M. Geletzke are charged with second-degree murder and child abuse. Police say the suspects were arraigned Sunday and ordered held without bond until a probable-cause hearing Feb. 16.
Tyrease Burton died Wednesday, and police say a medical examiner declared his burn death to be a homicide.
Police say the baby's mother left him in the care of McQueen and Geletzke. It's unknown if the suspects have lawyers.
