Lansing police are trying to determine the cause of death for a body that was found in the Red Cedar River this morning.
Capt. Daryl Green says a jogger told police that he thought he saw a body in the river in the area of River and Spring streets.
The body recovered the body at about 2:30 p.m.
It has been turned over to the medical examiner's office for forensic testing.
Capt. Green says it's too early to tell how long the body has been in the river.
He says the identity, race and gender of the body also have not been determined.
However, a police officer at the scene told our staff that he thought it was a black male.
It's also unknown whether any foul play is involved.
