Boat Battery Thefts Reported in Jackson County

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is investigating several thefts of boat batteries at a couple area lakes.

Undersheriff Chris Kuhl says the batteries were stolen from boats parked at rental slips at Pine Hills and Farewell Lake on Hanover Road in the village of Horton. They were reported stolen Monday morning, so the thefts may have occurred over the weekend.

Boat owners are encouraged to mark or engrave all equipment with an identifier such as your driver’s license number including state abbreviation. These identification numbers will assist law enforcement officers in tracing stolen merchandise back to the owner. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion.
