COLLEGE PARK, MD - The University of Maryland's board of regents voted unanimously Monday to accept an invitation to join the Big Ten. The school will have to pay an exit fee of about $50-million dollars to leave the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). A news conference is expected to take place at the school later today.
Maryland would start playing in Big Ten conference games in the 2014-2015 academic year.
Rutgers is expected to also join the Big Ten conference to keep the numbers even. ESPN reports that that announcement is expected to come Tuesday.
