COLLEGE PARK, MD - The University of Maryland's board of regents voted unanimously Monday to accept an invitation to join the Big Ten. The school will have to pay an exit fee of about $50-million dollars to leave the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). A news conference is expected to take place at the school later today.
Maryland would start playing in Big Ten conference games in the 2014-2015 academic year.
Rutgers is expected to also join the Big Ten conference to keep the numbers even. ESPN reports that that announcement is expected to come Tuesday.

So with this addition and Rutgers set to be added next, I wonder what they're going to rename us, as the Big 10 doesn't seem to quite work, now that we will have 14 teams.
