Search for Bank Robber in Okemos

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Police are searching for a man who robbed a bank in Meridian Township Monday afternoon. The robbery took place at the Capitol National Bank in the 4700 block of Marsh Road, near the Meridian Mall.

A man dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and wearing sunglasses approached a teller shortly after noon. He handed the teller a note, demanding money. Police say he indicated he had a gun, but no weapon was seen. The man left on foot.

Police are checking nearby businesses and using a dog and a helicopter to search the area. The thief is described as white, 5'6" tall and has a thin build. He was wearing a black or gray hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information should call Meridian Township Police 517-853-4800.
