BWL Rate Hike Hearing Canceled

A January 23 hearing to discuss a rate hike for Lansing Board of Water and Light customers has been canceled until further notice.

News 10 was told customer concerns about BWL's performance during the ice storm outage and the many ongoing investigations are the reasons why.

The rate hike would've meant another $2.69 a month for electric rates and about $2.39 a month for water rates.

The BWL is getting a lot of calls from upset customers this week regarding their current bill.

The company tells us many bills were estimated because conditions were just too dangerous for meter readers to get an accurate reading last month.

The BWL says it will make every effort to make sure the next billing cycle will be generated from actual reads. You can always read your meter yourself and call BWL Customer Service for an adjustment.
