DETROIT (AP) -- Authorities say three people have been arrested and at least 30 vehicles have been impounded after an overnight crackdown on drag racing in Detroit.

The Wayne County sheriff's office says shots were fired at one point late Friday. Gunfire has been a common complaint from residents. The races have been linked to violence, even death.

Sheriff Benny Napoleon says he won't tolerate loud cars and "lewd, drug-fueled behavior." He says residents in some west side neighborhoods feel terrorized.

The sheriff's office worked with Detroit police on the crackdown.
