Supporters of an effort to ban affirmative action in government hiring and college admissions in Michigan have raised almost all of their money in California.

Campaign finance reports filed this month by the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative Committee list no Michigan donors.

The committee is seeking a statewide vote in 2006 on whether to end affirmative action.

It's raised about $140,000.

The Sacramento, California-based American Civil Rights Coalition contributed 95-percent of that total. The coalition is headed by businessman and former University of California Regent Ward Connerly.

The Michigan committee says it will report a list of several hundred in-state donors later.
