A new 72-hour fishing license now is available in Michigan.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment made the announcement on Friday.
A bill creating the license recently was approved by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
DNRE fisheries biologist Todd Grischke says anglers previously only could choose between a one-day license and a season license. He says "this will just make it a little easier for people who are planning a long weekend fishing trip or visiting from out of state."
The 72-hour license costs $21, or $9 for resident seniors. It's valid for all species.
