The average score for a Michigan student on the S-A-T math section is down slightly from a year ago while the average reading score is unchanged.
The average score on the math section was 579 for students in the class of 2007, down from 583 a year ago.
Only about nine percent of Michigan's class of 2007 took the S-A-T, one of the lowest participation rates in the nation. Michigan students are far more likely to take the A-C-T exam because it is the state's primary high school test.
