Former Chief to Head Metro Security

Updated: Tue 6:03 PM, Sep 03, 2002

Former Lansing Police Chief Bob Johnson has been appointed head of security at Detroit Metro airport by the federal government.

Johnson left Lansing in 2000 to become the commissioner of prisons in Mississippi.

His appointment is part of the government's move to improve security at the nation's airports. Johnson will supervise nearly 800 screeners at Detroit Metro, the 11th busiest airport in the country.
