For the first time in seven years, the national average composite score for the ACT has increased. But in Michigan, there's even better news. 2004 high school graduates statewide are beating the national average with a score of 21.4 out of a possible 36. Nearly 1.2 million students take the test, and the national average rose one tenth of a point to 20.9.
