Strong winds have awakened the Sleeper Lake wildfire in the Upper Peninsula.
State officials say fewer than 25 residents left their homes today in the Deer Creek and Halfway Lake areas.
The three spot fires have also forced the closure of a 15-mile stretch of County Road 407, north of Pine Stump Junction to state highway 123.
The state Department of Natural Resources says the fire is 67 percent contained. It has burned more than 18,000 acres, or about 28 square miles.
Officials believe a lightning strike in the Lake Superior State Forest in Luce County had started the wildfire Aug. 2.
