Sarah Mead's attorney requests Judge Filip not hear her case.

The Jackson City councilmember's preliminary hearing was scheduled to be held Monday morning in Jackson County District Court. Mead is charged with three felonies: delivering and manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a drug house and felony firearm. Her preliminary hearing determines whether she will go to trial.

Livingston County Prosecutor David Morse tells News Ten the request was made because the Judge has some knowledge of the family.

"We did not feel it was a problem but the Judge had indicated at the time of his disclosure that he would recuse himself if any of the parties made that request," Morse wrote in an email.

The case will be assigned to another Jackson County District Court Judge.

Why has there been no recall effort to remove her, and her brother, from office?

Ok let's get this show on the road she needs to have her heariong and be sentenced for what she did. This letting this go so long is not right. Because of who she is get's her special treatment that anyone else would not get. She did worng and it needs to be dealt with now not when someone gets around to it. Plus I know I would not want council memebers around that are like her.

It does not provide good PR if they are trying every tactic to delay the trial.
