Lansing Assistant Fire Marshal Brad Drury says a woman in her late 20s or early 30s died Sunday after a fire in her apartment at 108 S. Hosmer in Lansing.
The fire department got a call around 8:30 a.m. of smoke in an apartment. When they arrived on scene, they had to break down the door to get into the woman's apartment. After searching the apartment, the found the woman's body. They say she's likely the woman who lived in the apartment.
There was only minor smoke damage sustained to other parts of the building.
Investigators say whenever there's a death in a fire, they investigate it very closely, saying it could be "suspicious."
The woman's identity has not been released, as her family has not yet been notified.
