People here can think of few, if any, things better than sitting back on a beautiful night and enjoying the intoxicating atmosphere and music of Old Town's JazzFest.

"It's so much fun, the atmosphere, the food, the people watching," says jazz fan Katy Walker.

The completely free Old Town tradition is in its 12th year and going strong. Organizers say the combination of smooth tunes and perfect weather should draw record crowds.

There is one thing missing, however, from this year's festival, and that's Robert Busby's presence. The man dubbed "The Mayor of Old Town" was murdered in February. Organizers have dedicated this year'sJazzFest to the man they say was integral to their community.

"It was most appropriate this year we honor Robert Busby," says organizer Terry terry. "It's the least we could do."

Busby's daughter Ena is honored.

"it makes me and my daughters happy to know my father and their grandfather did good work."

Busby might be gone, but the spirit and heart of this event still remain.

Terry says it's a symbol of what lansing's all about.
