It was a last-minute rally in opposition to health care reform.
"Most people in the country don't want health care reform, but they're doing it anyways," Ken Fellows said.
This local sign maker organized this rally outside Senator Debbie Stabenow's office in Lansing Friday.
He said this bill is wrong for the country and it's too expensive.
"How are you going to pay for health care for 30 million people?" Fellows asked. "Where's that money going to come from?"
While these people hit the streets, local union members hit the phones.
"We've been calling on congressman and senators, trying to get the support we need to get the vote we need to pass the bill," Jim Dravenstatt-Moceri said.
Dravenstatt-Moceri is the Vice President of the Lansing Labor Council. He said members got the list of Michigan lawmakers, then called and called to show support.
"It's going to control more of the costs of health care for families and small businesses," he said.
News Ten wanted to call the Michigan's Congressional Delegation to see where they are leaning just days before the vote, but every time we called an office, we got the same thing... a busy signal.
"Democratic Congressman John Dingell and Republican Pete Hoekstra's offices did eventually pick up the phone. They tell us the phones have been flooded for days now from Michiganders in support and opposition. For the most part though, it seems every congress member will vote along party lines.
But fellows said, there's still time for them to for them to change their minds.
"I pray this helps," Fellows said. "That they see us doing this, along with people doing this across the country, I just pray this helps."
The Vice President of the "Lansing Labor Council" tells us union members will be calling lawmakers all weekend until the final vote.
