Lansing's Impression 5 Science Center dedicated a sculpture to the victims and heroes of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Sculptor Cyrus Miller created "Duet" - artwork depicting two singing heads atop two cement pillars - six months before the World Trade Center attacks. However, science center directors say the two pillars perfectly represent the World Trade Center towers. They say the faces atop the cement pillars represent the people who were affected by the attacks.

The sculpture - which took Miller six months to develop - is located in the Impression 5 Sept. 11 Memorial Garden, just outside the entrance of the science center. Science center employees planted the garden last Sept. 11, as a tribute to the victims of the tragedy.

On Wednesday, parents, children, science center employees and city leaders also celebrated Impression 5's 30th birthday. Families enjoyed cake, balloons and science activities during the party.
