BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Two of the apparent early leaders running for Michigan governor will speak to students at a private school in suburban Detroit.
Republican U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra and House Speaker state Rep. Andy Dillon are scheduled to speak Friday morning to students at Detroit Country Day Upper School in Beverly Hills. A release says each will "present a vision for the future of Michigan."
Besides Dillon, the Democratic field includes Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and state Rep. Alma Wheeler Smith. Other Republicans running are Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, Attorney General Mike Cox, state Sen. Tom George and Ann Arbor business leader Rick Snyder.
Former Republican U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz is considering running as an independent.
