EMF Health Risk

Don Hillman Ph.D., former professor at Michigan State University, has been studying the electrical and magnetic fields emitted in Patriarche Park and the surrounding areas in East Lansing.

He says the Nextel generator located below the water tower is over the federal government's limit of EMF. This has local residents concerned for themselves and their children. There are three schools close by the park and generator that Professor Hillman says share the same water and electrical lines.

He says he also found certain frequencies that have been linked to cancer, childhood leukemia and brain tumors in previous studies.

The mayor, city manager, council members of East Lansing and Nextel Corporation did not return calls to comment.

A hearing will be held July 13 at 7 p.m. to discuss Nextel’s request to expand the generator.
