Police Officer Killed In Early Tuesday Morning Shootout
A Jackson Police Officer is killed, Blackman Township Officer Injured during a shootout with a suspect on Jackson's south side.

A Jackson Police Officer is killed during a shootout with a suspect. The shooting happened in the 100 block of Mitchell Street. Police say it started first at The Ashton Ridge Apartment complex. Police received a complaint about the suspect. He was gone when officers arrived. Police tracked the suspect to a home on Mitchell Street. Police say that is when 63 year old Elvin Potts opened fire on two officers. The officers returned fire and killed Potts.
Jackson Police Officer James Bonneau was killed. Blackman Township Officer Darin McIntosh was injured. Bonneau had been on the Jackson Police force since November 2007. He was 26 years old.
