By Noon Wednesday people at Polly's Country Market, on Parnall Rd. in Jackson, knew someone had sold a big winner. The lucky numbers had only been posted on the Internet for about one hour.
Customers were asking about it and a Michigan Lottery official had called. Ford Kennedy, Polly's Director of Sales, says a store manager was told someone had bought a $1 million winner at the store, but he or she hadn't come forward yet.
"Everyone wants to know who it is, if it's a regular customer or an employee," says head cashier Ronda.
Polly's sold a $100,000 winner during the last Millionaire Raffle. Those numbers were drawn in April. This most recent raffle is the third raffle.
Michigan Lottery officials confirm Jackson is the luckiest city in Michigan, when talking about the Millionaire Raffle. A handful of $100,000 winners have been sold and four, $1 million tickets have been bought in Jackson. Two, previously, at the Ground Round.
It's the first time a winner has been sold at Corey's in Lansing. Bill Corey, Manager of Corey's, heard his business sold a $1 million winner from a customer. Then he got the call from a Michigan Lottery official.
Corey figures a regular customer won. "We'll just wait to see who pulls up in a Rolls Royce and then we'll know," he says.
Three $100,000 winning tickets were also sold in mid-Michigan. One at Relli's Sports Bar in DeWitt, one at Dashmesh One Inc. in Lansing and one at Kelly's Express Mart in Jackson.
