What started out small, turned into quite the problem for Jackson residents Tuesday as they returned home from work.
"It's been pretty good up until now," Jackson resident Tony Debiasi said.
"They're talking about 7-10-12 inches, so I figure i better get out here and shovel," John Nimitz said. "This is the third time I've been out here shoveling."
The snow just kept on coming, many finding it hard to keep up.
"We did the driveway and the back walk already," Cindy Navarre said. "This is like my least favorite thing to do."
But the Director of Public Works for the city said they were on top it since early Tuesday, and planned to work through the night.
"We've been working on it through the day, out plowing and putting salt down on the streets," Director Jon Dowling said. "We do the state highways first in the city, then we have our emergency snow routes."
The good news for Jackson residents is the city has only spent about quarter of its snow plowing budget so far because it's been a mild winter. So they say, they definitely have the resources to get to the side streets, if you have the patience.
"The local streets won't get hit until Wednesday," Dowling said.
Jackson might be getting hit harder than many communities this time around, but it seemed its residents were in good spirits.
"We're singing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' as we work," Navarre said.
"Everyone's talking about how we won't have school," Jillian Navarre said.
"I love it," Nimitz said. "This is pretty, this is nice."
Jackson's Public Service Director plans to have two trucks clearing the emergency snow routes overnight. The regular shift will be back at 4 a.m. to clear away the snow on the major roads for rush hour Wednesday morning.
