Michigan State Police are cracking down on sex offenders who fail to update their addresses. Fifty arrests were made in two weeks during the annual operation taking place in Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties.

D/Sgt. Kyle McPhee, of the Lansing Post, says several of the people arrested at new residences were living in areas next to children and neighbors had no idea they were sex offenders. Forty violators are still on the streets. Troopers from the Lansing Post have been assigned to look for them.

Michael Eagan, Eaton County Prosecutor, says when the cases come to his office warrants will be issued. Sex offenders found in violation could face up to four years in jail or prison.
