Democrat Jennifer Granholm continues to lead Republican Dick Posthumus in the governor's race, but her lead is narrowing.

A survey of 600 likely voters by EPIC/MRA of Lansing gives Granholm a 55 percent to 42 percent edge, with four percent undecided. In May, Granholm led 48 percent to 29 percent when EPIC/MRA asked about a potential matchup between the pair.

The poll was conducted Sunday through Wednesday and has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

When asked, 47 percent of the respondents said they had a favorable opinion of Posthumus, the lieutenant governor, while 23 percent had an unfavorable opinion, 21 percent were undecided and nine percent didn't know his name.

Granholm, currently the attorney general, was thought of favorably by 65 percent, while 17 percent had an unfavorable opinion, 16 percent were undecided and two percent didn't know her name.
