The Federal Aviation Administration says it's still too early to tell what caused a deadly plane crash Monday in Eaton County's Vermontville Township.

Witnesses say they saw the single engine experimental plane go down, around two p.m., in a field about one half of a mile north of Scipio Highway. Three men were killed in the crash. Eaton County Sheriff Rick Jones says it appears they died upon impact.

The FAA was on the scene taking pictures, getting the initial investigation underway for hours Monday evening. Investigators will return Tuesday to continue sorting through the wreckage.
