A teenager has died of injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident near his mid-Michigan home.
State police at West Branch say 14-year-old Alex Sapp of Lupton died Monday night after the sled he was driving ran into a dock on Grebe Lake in the Rifle River Recreation Area in Ogemaw County.
Sapp's passenger, 15-year-old John Kovach, was treated at West Branch Regional Medical Center and released. State police didn't have his hometown available but said he is from the West Branch area.
Lupton is 180 miles north of Detroit.
Sapp is at least the third person killed in a snowmobile accident in Michigan this season, and the second in as many days. A 29-year-old Sanford woman died Sunday of injuries suffered in a Saturday night crash in Benzie County.
