A Midland County woman has died of injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident in northern Lower Michigan.
The Benzie County Sheriff's Department says 29-year-old Candace G. McDonald of Sanford died Sunday at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Deputies say McDonald was snowmobiling with two family members Saturday night when she lost control of her sled and it went airborne and crashed into a tree.
The Bay City times reports the accident occurred in Benzie County's Almira Township, about 125 miles northwest of the victim's hometown.
McDonald is at least the second person to die in a snowmobile accident in Michigan this season. There were 21 fatalities during the 2008-2009 season that ended March 30.
