A legal challenge to a gas pipeline through south Lansing is officially in the works. Lansing Mayor David Hollister has filed an appeal with the Michigan Court of Appeals against the Michigan Public Service Commission and Wolverine Pipeline Company.
The suit challenges the Michigan Public Service Commission's approval of a 26 miles gasoline pipeline along Interstate 96.
The city of Lansing is also seeking a court injunction to keep Wolverine from proceeding with construction of the pipeline while the court is deciding this case.
An Appeals Court decision could take one to two years.
