Portland Priest Father Shamaun Beas is behind bars, charged with eights counts of criminal activity including child sexually abusive activity.
Warren Police set up a sting operation Monday, part of Attorney General Mike Cox's crack down on internet child predators. In that sting Father Beas, from Portland's St. Patrick's Church, was arrested for allegedly using a computer to arrange a meeting with a child for sex.
Parishoner Brenda Rogers says she's surprised because he had always seemed like a good priest. But police say the 35-year-old good priest may have been doing bad things. Police arrested him near Detroit when he reportedly went to meet an undercover cop he thought was a 14-year-old child.
Beas, who had been with St. Patrick's Church since November of 2001, has been placed on an administrative leave of absence and stripped of his priestly duties.
